C2M finals - Volf and Stepanek finished fourth, Kaspar and Sindler fifth.(VIDEO)

Czech teams did not manage to win a medal from the World Cup event in Prague - Troja. Twofold Olympic medal winners Jaroslav Volf and Ondrej Stepanek finished fourth, fifth place belongs to another Czech team - Jonas Kaspar and Marek Sindler.

Volf and Stepanek were second in the semifinals. They went to the finals knowing it is their last run in this season. They were the fastest with the time 101.24. However, they stroke twice, therefore got a penalty in the amount of four seconds. They were third when they finished as they replaced the other Czech team, but there were Slovenian canoeists about to start; Bozic and Taljat removed Czech canoeists from the medal position.

"The course was quite difficult. Unfortunately, our mistakes were quite stupid." regretted Jaroslav Volf in the interview with the Czech television. The first part of the course was quite slow, so they went faster in the other half. "We heard that according to the split we were loosing, so we tried to be faster, we shortened the approaches to the gates, and that is how we got those penalties. Finals are supposed to be very risky runs." added Ondrej Stepanek. "Unfortunatel, we made two unnecessary mistakes." sighed Stepanek.

Jonas Kaspar and Marek Sindler, however, experienced the very first run in the World Cup event finals, and it was a success - they finished fifth after a very good performance.

However, a real success was performed by the French canoeists; Pierre Labarelle and Nicolas Peschier were first, the silver medal goes to their colleagues Gauthier Klauss and Mathieu Pech, who were slower for 1.12 second. The above mentioned Slovenian team Bozic and Taljat finished third. Both, the silver and the bronze medalists got a penalty for a stroke.

The run did not end well for Slovakian Skantar's. They got two fifty-second penalties, therefore finished tenth. Thus, they are loosing even more to French today's winners Labarelle and Peschier. Slovenian team Bozic and Taljat is now third in the current World Cup standings.
